The greatest wealth is health. ~Virgil
Welcome to Providence Health and Healing where your journey to good health, the natural way, begins. My practice is rooted in the ancient philosophy of vitalism as practiced by Hippocrates, Aristotle, Galen and Avicenna. Vitalism says that there is in each of us, a vital force, when in balance, creates harmony for both the body and the mind. As a holistic practitioner, my goal is to work with this vital force to gently help the body back into balance. I believe in the innate wisdom of the body and its ability to take care of itself when given the proper inputs. Symptoms exist for a reason, giving clues as to what it wants or needs. And although symptom relief is important, we should seek to understand why the symptom/s are there in the first place. This differs from conventional medicine, which is about treating a symptom or set of symptoms, sometimes for life, with a drug. This is called “managed” care.
My goal is to support you in your journey to optimum health. I will take the time to listen to what you have to say and work with you to help your body help itself. I do not diagnose “diseases” (this is for physicians only) but rather listen to you and your body to determine a plan. I do, however, recommend that you have a complete check up with your physician before making an appointment and will be happy to work with your physician on your journey to good health.
Tools of the Trade
Nutrition
Nutrition is the basis of all healing. However, what is right for one person is not always right for another. There is no ONE perfect diet for everyone no matter what your friends or the press tell you. Whether you are vegetarian or an omnivore, we work together to determine what is best for you. I am a licensed nutritionist (LDN) in the state of Pennsylvania and Delaware, a Certified Nutritional Specialist (CNS), accredited by the American College of Nutrition and a Registered Herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalist Guild https://www.americanherbalistsguild.com
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years and is still the main source of healing and nutrition for most indigenous people today. As a clinical herbalist, you will receive from me, completely customized herbal teas, tinctures or powders, based on a thorough assessment. Many practitioners and even doctors recommend herbal supplements; however, they rarely have any extensive training in herbal medicine. This is why seeing a clinical herbalist, who has both the depth and breath of knowledge is important. I studied herbal medicine, full time, for 3 years earning an MS in Herbal Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly known as Tai Sophia). I am also a registered herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalist Guild (AHG) and have been practicing herbal medicine for 10 years.
Homeopathic Medicine
Homeopathic medicine is the concept of “like treating like” in its most simplistic form. But homeopathy is far from simple. It has been used all over Europe by physicians as a gentle way to help the body reset itself.
Here are just some examples of issues that I work with in helping the body heal itself:
- Anxiety/depression
- Allergies
- Autoimmune issues
- Cardiovascular issues
- Gastrointestinal issues
- Joint and other pains
- Respiratory issues
- Immune challenges
- Weight change (gain or loss)
- Female reproductive issues
I will work with you, wherever you are in your path to healing, but in order to change, you need to challenge yourself to do what is necessary, whether it be dietary or lifestyle. And this may not be easy! But if you are committed, know that I will walk with you on your journey to good health.
Blessings in health,
Jayne Tamburello, MS, CNS, RH(AHG), LDN
